Jack J. Ward is an award-winning writer, director, actor, producer, and educator who has spent more than 25 years creating and championing modern audio drama. Through Sonic Cinema Productions  and Electric Vicuna Productions, Jack has written and produced works spanning science fiction, fantasy, suspense, horror, action, comedy, and drama, alongside adaptations and explorations of classic radio storytelling. His writing also includes novels, short stories, poetry, and other forms of fiction.

A longtime teacher of English Literature and Drama, Jack has always been particularly interested in the intersection between storytelling, performance, and education—and in the lessons writers in any medium can learn from writing for the ear.

Jack is the creator and co-host, with acclaimed voice actor David Ault, of The Sonic Society, one of the world’s longest-running showcases of modern audio drama. For more than two decades, The Sonic Society has introduced listeners to audio dramatists and productions from around the world. His own work has also been featured in multiple creator spotlights by Re-Imagined Radio.

Jack is the founder and CEO of The Mutual Audio Network, a global home for audio drama and audio fiction that brings together thousands of episodes from independent creators and companies. His work with The Sonic Society and the Mutual Audio Network grew from a belief that independent creators are stronger when they share audiences, support one another, and build communities rather than compete for attention.

As a writer, teacher, and advocate for modern audio drama, Jack continues to encourage prose writers, playwrights, performers, and independent creators to explore what happens when storytelling is stripped down to its essentials: voice, sound, character, conflict, and the imagination of the audience.

Jack lives in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he continues to write, produce, teach, and develop new creative projects.
